More Snowman Fun

Before we moved, my crafting buddy and I was able to get together and have one last night of fun. We made these cute little snowmen. I wasn't able to finish mine completely till we made the move and got things sorted a bit. But I really like how they turned out.
I was also able to finish my monogram snowman as well. I don't think I like the white A though. I might re-paint it red.
Overall it has been a good crafting experience. :) I now have all my crafting stuff back so I will be able to make more things, and I will try and do a better job at posting about them.

Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?

The end of the semester is right around the corner and I have been itching to get my hands on crafting again. I have 2 projects lined up for this weekend (hopefully) and I just finished this guy.

Isn't he CUTE!!!! Plus so much fun to make. He is made out of a rough wood (sorry I don't know which kind). His nose, hat brim and star are secured with screws. The base is a solid block and has a triangle to attach the snowman to it. I used a heavy staple gun to secure the pine boughs and ribbon to the star. His mouth is bent wire secured by heavy staples and his eyes are fabric tacks. Oh and then of course the vinyl lettering on the hat. Sorry I didn't take pictures of the whole process, once I got started I was so happy to be crafting again I just did it and forgot to document. I will try and do better with the other two crafts.
I hope you enjoyed. Happy crafting everyone!

Oh and my daughter had a fit when she saw him she was so excited. But promptly refused when daddy asked if it was olaf. "Nope, he's just a snowman." :p

Birthday Gift

I made this gift super last minute. ( I think it was about 15 minutes before we had to leave.) I realized that we didn't have a gift for our sister in law so I found a frame with just it's glass and went through my vinyl to see if I had a cute saying, luckily I did. So I cleaned the glass, applied the vinyl and sealed up the glass edge with my hot glue gun. Here is what it looks like.
Overall I think it turned out really well and she really liked it. :)

Birthday Fun

My little girls birthday was a couple weeks ago. We found this awesome deal on a used vanity for her that is in very good condition. After we got it I started looking into accessories for it we found some cute hair items; blow dryer, curling iron, things like that. But all the pretend makeup we found was either real makeup that I could see my 2 year old making a mess of, or really expensive. So I had an idea. I found an old compact with some eye shadow still in it. I got rid of the eye shadow and got the compact all clean. Next I got some simple acrylic paint and I used it to coat the inside of the different eye shadow cases. I chose colors that are bright but still realistic.
I tried to keep it smooth with no bubbles and thick enough to cover the silver tray. I let it sit overnight to make sure it dried all the way through. Then I used a clear drying hot glue and filled the trays. Once again I tried to keep the glue smooth with no bubbles or spikes. The bottom does get hot so be careful. This only took a couple hours to dry.
It turned out pretty much exactly how I wanted and had visioned it and my little girl loves it. :)
I also made a cute My Little Pony cake for her birthday. I used the hot air balloon as my inspiration. The cake though was so little that I didn't think there would be enough for everyone, so I also did Cutie mark cupcakes.
So this is the hot air balloon
I did the design on the balloon with a purple sharpie and I thought it would be cute to add her name in the design.
Last but not least the cutie mark cupcakes. :) These took awhile to make but where a lot of fun. Everyone really seemed to enjoy everything and we all had a great time. Especially my little girl. :)

Fathers Day and Crafting Fun

Today we made cards for Daddy, Grandpa and Grumpy (Another Grandpa. :p) My little miss had a lot of fun making these cards and they turned out really well. My little miss loves rocks and no matter where we go she always brings back at least one. so I thought it would be fun to let her paint her rocks as well. She also painted some pretty pictures. It was a fun little craft day with her.

I forgot to take pictures of all 3 of the cards. I tried to make each one unique. But here is the one card to her Grumpy.
Happy Fathers Day to all the daddy's out there. :)

Better Late Than Never

So we had the chance to move into our rooms in the basement last November. But there were a few little minor things that needed to be done still. Our closet doors needed to be painted and put doorknobs on them. Back in...I think February, I asked my parents to bring up my long lost bookshelf that I found hiding in their barn. I was a bit dirty and had a few cracks. But nothing I couldn't fix. I have been working on it for awhile. recently our little girl was transitioning to a big girl bed and so I thought this would be a good time to put the last few coats of pain on the book shelf and finally get it in her room. While I had the paint out I decided to finish her closet doors to. I think I have before pictures but I don't have a clue where they could be. But here is the finished look of both the closet and her new bookshelf.
I didn't even realize the I didn't put the doorknobs in the right place Till my father in law pointed it out. Oops! :p
I am very pleased with this bookshelf it goes great in her room. Now if I could just get her to keep her books looking nice and neat and not strewn all over the floor. :)

"Under Construction" Birthday Cake

This past weekend we had the chance to celebrate my twin nephews birthday. My mother in law wanted to do a fun construction cake for them, so after we did a search on pinterest and google we decided how we wanted this cake to look and started. My mother in law was kind enough to do all the baking, the decorating was up to me.
This is what I had to work with and I got to work immediately. :)
I used chocolate graham crackers crushed up for the dirt and the oreo's for the darker dirt.
We wanted to add orange construction cones but zurchers was all sold out. My mother in law found these orange kaleidoscope instead and so we thought we'd try them.
The twin absolutely loved their cake and so did their brothers. :) It was a lot of fun making it.
